Thomas Keller is to launch his pop-up version of his three-Michelin starred Californian restaurant The French Laundry at Harrods on 1 October.
First revealed by BigHospitality in January, the pop-up restaurant will run for 10 days at Harrods’ fourth floor Georgian Restaurant, which will be faithfully redesigned to mirror the interior of the original French Laundry in Napa Valley.
The restaurant will serve 70-covers with a £250, nine-course set menu featuring some of the restaurant’s classic dishes plus a selection of new creations.
Fixtures, fittings and signature dinnerware will all be flown over by Keller ready for first service.
Keller, who told BigHospitality in January that he was excited about running a restaurant on UK shores for the first time, said: “We are extremely excited to work with Harrods on this project. It is for us a first in many ways.
“We have never ventured to open a restaurant outside of the US, but we realised early on that our philosophies mirrored each other’s and we could not think of a better partner for this endeavour.
Paul Goodale, director of restaurants at Harrods, said: “The opportunity to enjoy The French Laundry at Harrods promises to be a truly unique and compelling experience for our diners. Like Harrods, Thomas Keller enjoys a globally renowned reputation and our collaboration is set to be the pinnacle in a year that will witness a number of exciting new restaurant launches and rejuvenations here at Harrods.”
